During Wednesday's general audience, Pope Francis focused his catechesis on the 'Year of Faith. ' With more than 30,000 pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square, the Pope talked about Jesus' Resurrection and the role women play in transmitting the faith.

Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.

In the last catechesis I spoke of God's revelation as His communicating of Himself and His loving plan. This Revelation of God is inserted into human time and history: a history that becomes "the arena where we see what God does for humanity. God comes to us in the things we know best and can verify most easily, the things of our everyday life, apart from which we cannot understand ourselves"(John Paul II, Enc. Fides et Ratio, 12).

At the beginning of his letter to the Christians of Ephesus (cf. 1, 3-14), the apostle Paul raises a prayer of blessing God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ – a prayer that we have just heard - that introduces us to live the season of Advent, in the context of the faith.

The main question that we ask today is: how can we speak of God in our time? How can we communicate the Gospel, to open roads to his saving truth in the hearts, that are often closed, of our contemporaries and in their minds, sometimes distracted by the many lights of society?

We go forward in this Year of Faith, bearing in our hearts the hope of rediscovering how much joy there is in believing and of finding the enthusiasm to communicate to all the truths of the faith.

The journey of reflection that we are making together this Year of Faith leads us to meditate today on a fascinating aspect of the Human and Christian experience: man carries within himself a mysterious desire for God.

As Fr. Kolbe ministers to this Protestant doctor, we glimpsed that his Love for the God in others transcends even religious divisions. He didn’t view others under the divided categories of Catholic, Protestant, or Jew nor, evident by his life in Auschwitz, does he even make prejudiced distinctions between Nazi oppressors or imprisoned inmates. Fr. Kolbe shows, with his loving words and actions that we are all children of the same God and like children, who may fall into sorrow or confusion, must be brought back to the comfort of our Father.

No one can believe alone and by himself, just as no one can live alone and by himself. We receive the faith from the Church and live it out in fellowship with the people with whom we share our faith.
